Vol. 4

///The Olympian Overlay Capsule///

- 08 . 12 . 16 -

With the 2016 Rio Games rolling through the summer, its hard not to get in the spirit to cheer for your beloved nation. At this time around we are dedicating a mini release that was inspired by the event that unites all nations across the globe. We kept things simple and initiated with two different designs for this drop. The Coubertin Overlay Tee was a piece paid homage to the French educator and historian, Baron Pierre de Coubertin, and was best known as the designer of the Olympic rings in that was first used in 1912. The ring consists of colors shared by the flags of those countries that competed at that time. The Rise Overlay Tee features the Rising Commander symbol pairing with aesthetic of the American flag, a representation of our vision as a US based lifestyle brand. Each garment is specially constructed with our 3D overlay fabrication to achieve its unique visual effect.

This year, our team had an amazing opportunity to be a proud sponsor of the CITY Gala 2016, an official fundraising event hosted by the Community Inspiring Today’s Youth - a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles. The event took place on Monday Feb.15th, at the world famous Playboy Mansion followed the evening of the 58th GRAMMYs®. The event kicked off with keynote speaker Sir. Richard Branson (founder of Virgin Group), who joined the guests for the night and engaged in small discussions with Jane Seymour. Influential figures such as American engineer and former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, second man in history to walk on the moon, and American businessman John Paul DeJoria (co-founder of Paul Mitchell, The Patron Spirits Company) were also honored at the event. Aldrin was presented with the City Lifetime Achievement Award by Greg Reid, while DeJoria was presented with the Legacy of Inspiration Award by Ryan Long (City Gala executive producer).

This fundraiser was an exclusive invitation-only black-tie event, offering VIP experiences and a number of entertainment for its attendees. From open bar, gourmet food, honorable recognition, celebrities meet & greet, charitable poker tournament, live music entertainment, to fashion show presented by Hemp Blue, the mansion was boiled with nothing by good vibe.

Mountain of Love

There are a few types of people. Ones that doubt you and call your ideas crazy. And there are those that support and believe in you and your work. There will be ones that sit and watch, then there are those that dream on. Finally, there are those that implement ideas and execute with all means. Stays hungry and never be content with where you stand. Forget the wait. Forget the excuses. You can wait all day but for one thing is certain; time is not waiting for you. Take action now because there is never the right time. Throw that negative mindset out the window and take action. The right time is now.

Over the course of the past few months, we have been working relentlessly to fulfill all the orders for our recent campaign. Your patience, love, and support is well received by us and we are truly grateful to have supporters like you who played a part and made this such an exciting journey for us. The wait is now over. Get ready to check your mail soon.

World of Dance Los Angeles Worlds Final 2015 Recap

Last weekend, a 2-Day urban dance competition took place in the heart of Los Angeles at the LA Convention Center. The event gathered thousands of dancers and spectators to share their passion for the urban dance culture. There were a number of participating teams coming from other countries in participation for the Worlds Final. Some notable international teams included NXG Company (Canada) 1st Place Upper Div, Kyushudanji Shinsengumi (Japan) 1st Place Youth Div, Desi Hopper (India) 1st Place World's Final, and Royal Family (New Zealand). From meet & greet with famous dancers, free dance lessons, team exhibitions, to actual competition, the building was filled with nothing but good vibe.

In promotion for our Kickstarter: The 3D Overlay Tee campaign and the upcoming grand opening of DS9 Studio, we teamed up with the MOS Wanted Crew's very own JP Goldstein and held an autograph session over at our table. We also had several well respected influencers in the dance community who visited our table to show their share of support, including Jawn Ha, Ian Eastwood, and Tight Eyez.

Our 3D Overlay Tees has been a hot topic at the event and we got many positive feedback for our innovative design.
You can now reserve your very own 3D Tee by visiting our Kickstarter campaign: http://kck.st/1WiKrjW

Meet the man who started a movement in the Hip Hop culture. The creator of Krump - TIGHT EYEZ.
We are honored to have such an important influencer to show support at our table. We cannot be more grateful!

Ian Eastwood from the MOS Wanted Crew stopped by our table during our autograph session to support his fellow teammate, JP Goldstein.

DS9 Dance Studio will be having its grand opening on August 29th, 2015. Be sure to roll by & join the party.

Meet Foreground's New Brand Ambassador: JP Goldstein (America's Best Dance Crew S7 // MOS Wanted Crew)

Recently, we have the opportunity to work with one notable member from the urban dance community—JP Goldstein. JP is one of the original eight members from the famously known MOS Wanted Crew. Debuted from MTV's America's Best Dance Crew Season 7, its members included Brian Puspos, Bam Martin, Ian Eastwood, Jun Quemado, Jawn Ha, Lando Wilkins, JP Goldstein, and Ricky Cole. JP is also an alumni of many well respected teams such as Streetfam, Team Millennia, Mavyn, GRV, Boxcuttahz, UFX, and Urban Youth. Currently, he is in charge of his own dance project - Starfleet. During our recent meeting, JP shared his stories with us regarding his experience in China as a professional dancer. For four years, JP was working with Infinity Dance Production, a dance project he started in Beijing. This venture allowed him to establish great relationships with a number of entertainment companies in Asia. JP is currently working to establish his very own dance studio, Dance Space 9 (DS9), and is set to have its grand opening on Saturday August 29, 2015. We are very excited to have JP on board with us as our brand ambassador and we have some great plans ahead of us.

To help us get to know JP on a more personal level, we had the chance to conduct a brief interview with him.

What motivates you?
Everything motivates me. People, nature, life. But more than anything my family. My daughter. The best thing about me is her. My little princess.

Who or what inspired you to pursue your dream of becoming a professional dancer?
My family. They've really stood behind my dreams and helped me become who I am today. Dancer wise I'd have to say my good brother Stephen Twitch Boss.

If you could go back in time and tell the 12-year-old version of yourself something, what would it be and why?
Don't worry, you'll be ok. Just fight hard and never doubt any idea you come up with.

What is your style? What do you like to wear?
My style is.. no genre if I had to say. I appreciate everything that's out there so I just find what I like and flip it to my liking.

What does dance mean to you?
It means.. everything. It means life is rhythm and time. It means story, explanation of ones path. And expression of emotion, situation, desire. The list goes on. Dance is in my blood. It is my religion, while the floor is my church. And the music.. is my bible.

If you can give one advice to a starter who is passionate about dance, what would it be?
Train hard. This life of a dancer ain't easy.. but if you train hard and stay patient and really work to hone your kraft.. you'll do just fine. Oh and stay humble but stand up for what you want and believe in.

Do you have any upcoming projects that we can look forward to?
At this moment I'm currently building new projects with my company STVRFLEET COMMAND UNITED. Just wait.. you'll see. :)

Anything else you would like to say or include for our audience?
Remember one thing.. no matter what venture you choose to explore.. explore it fully and wisely. Believe in the You that is Now. To be the better You tomorrow.

Live Inspired; Die Fulfilled. #LIDF

Behind the Scene

In preparation for our upcoming Kickstarter campaign, our team has been working nonstop this past weekend in filming a new product we are releasing in the coming weeks. This is one big stepping stone for Foreground, and we are thrilled to show you what we have in stored. From photographers, videographers, hairstylists, PR, to our product designer, the entire production team has something unique to bring to the table.

What we love about running a clothing label is the new people we meet. It's always people who comes before the product itself. Each one of them are all talented in their own ways and we bring together something that is so unique and special to the table. The ones that are behind the scene are the ones who works the hardest but often gets the least recognition. We are grateful to have all these wonderful people to be part of something our company shares to the world — a chance to rise independently. To rise not alone but as an individual. We are excited to see where this company may lead us in the future and we hope one day we can make a difference with everyone that we come across. Stay tuned for our upcoming big announcement.
